Eucrenonaspides oinothekegen. et sp.n., of the family Psammaspididae, is described. The species was found in a spring at Devonport, NW Tasmania, and is the first spring‐dwelling syncarid recorded from the Australian region. The description of the family Psammaspididae is amended to permit the inclusion of the genus Eucrenonaspides. In the light of the morphology of the Psammaspididae, a revised classification of the order Anaspidacea is suggested.
