摘要:

Dietary intake and blood profile data was obtained on 68 free-living Mississippi senior citizens. Forty-three percent of citizens were regular participants in a Title III funded feeding center, and 75% were female. Serum iron was higher for males than females, but was not influenced by the feeding program. No citizen had low serum iron values. Calcium, vitamin A and ascorbic acid intakes were higher for participants than non-participants. Participation in the program decreased the number recording inadequate intakes for most nutrients. Calcium intake for non-participants was similar to those recorded in the Health and Nutrition Examination survey of 547 mg/d, while participants ingested 747 mg/d which approached the Recommended Dietary Allowance for the nutrient.
