AbstractThe reaction between p‐bromophenylmagnesium bromide, p‐bromo‐magnesiophenylmagnesium bromide and cyclohexanone has been reinvestigated. By using ammoniacal solution of ammonium chloride todecompose the resulting organomagnesium complex, we were able to improve the yield of one of the reaction products, and to isolate one product heretofore missing. The yield of 1′4′‐dihydroxydicyclohexylbenzene based on p‐dibromobenzene was increased to about 5%.
