The development of instrumentation for temperature measurement has been simplified with the availability of integrated circuits designed specifically to measure temperature. These devices are, for the most part, linear, accurate (once calibrated), and easy to use. Additionally, we are seeing an increasing availability of low-cost complete digital panel meters. This paper describes a small, inexpensive, Celsius-reading (centigrade), digital thermometer whose two main components are an IC temperature sensor and a digital panel meter kit. Complete circuit details are provided. Also included are modification and parts-substitution ideas and a bibliography on temperature measurement instrumentation.
