TheGuide for Occupational Explorationcontains a new approach for presenting occupational information for use in career exploration. Its contents are in a nontechnical language and simple style intended for any reader with or without counseling help.The data are organized into 12 interest areas, 11 of which correspond directly to the interest factors in the new USES Interest Inventory currently being developed. Each area contains groups of jobs clustered according to common interests, capabilities, and adaptabilities of the workers. Jobs within each group are subgrouped for easy reading. Descriptive materials for the areas and groups focus on the characteristics of individuals as they relate to the characteristics required by the jobs.It is anticipated that this guide will provide an easy method of relating people potential to job requirements, which has not been possible with previous occupational exploration tools.
