Although teaching has been a valuable component of the nursing profession, it confers upon the profession a new role and leadership function along with a method of teaching/learning evaluation for which nurses have not always been prepared. This article outlines four learning principles that have influenced learning positively in an adult population and suggests ways to integrate these principles into burn nurse education practices.
