As it is with most elderly people, traditional Cuban eating patterns provide a sense of psycho-social well being. Immigration has modified many of these eating habits, with a resultant loss of comfort and security. Health care givers need to recognize that the meaning, value and structure of eating behaviors can only be understood within the context of people's culture.
