During the past summer, the International Association for Statistics in Physical Sciences (IASPS), an autonomous section of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), organized Satellite Symposia in the United States concerning applications of probability and statistics. These symposia were a spin‐off of the biennial meetings of ISI In Washington, D.C., and covered the areas of geology, hydrology, metallurgy, point processes, turbulence, and pollution.
