摘要:
&NA;This article provides a description of the essential features of altruistic love in the context of care for the person with Alzheimer's disease and then proposes an ethics of love in its affective aspects. This universal ethics of love is contrasted with “hypercognitive” exclusionary notions of “who counts” morally, and especially with narrow “personhood” theories of moral status. The article concludes with attention to the spiritual aspects of love that provide deeper support for the other‐regarding phenomena of care, compassion, and forgiveness. Quality of life is described as essentially a creation of love.
