AbstractA revised pattern of the ALFREY‐PRICE's Q‐e scheme was proposed by assuming the e‐value of styrene to be equal to zero. Logarithm methyl affinities of several vinyl monomers were found to hold a much better linearity with the revised logarithm Q‐values of the corresponding monomers than with the original ones. The revised P‐values of some monomers kept their constancy throughout a series of copolymerization reactions with various sorts of partner monomers, although the e‐value fluctuated widely in response to the comonomer, similarly in the case with the original e‐value. This fact suggests that a term, eReM, rather than eMor eRitself has a true physical meaning in the propagation reaction between attacking radical, R and monomer, M.
