AbstractA variation of the Gomori trichrome stain has been developed to emphasize the morphology of gross specimens. The stain results in good contrast among various kinds of tissue. The tissue distortion associated with paraffin embedding and microtome sectioning is avoided. The stain has been used on full-thickness sections of human abdominal wall to produce differences in coloration of fat, muscle, and connective tissue for subsequent scanning and analysis by computer.
