A bacteriuria screening program in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia proved highly rewarding in terms of both knowledge about the condition and improvement of the health profile of the area. Equally important, it provided a prototype for cooperation between hospital and community physician, which Dr. Kunin feels could profitably be emulated throughout the country.
