摘要:

An experiment is presented that investigates quantitatively the transition of a sphere from rolling with no slipping to a combination of rolling and slipping. Students tend to find their data surprising; however, an application of the laws of rotational dynamics correctly predicts the observed behavior. The experiment is suitable for an introductory mechanics laboratory.
