Mesh grafting is the most commonly emplyed technique to obtain maximal use of autogenous skin. This report reviews many technical considerations involved in mesh grafting to include the preoperative preparation of the donor site, skin grafting, meshing the graft, and application and postoperative care of the graft. The techniques described are being used in the University of Virginia burn center and are susceptible to reproduction in other burn treatment facilities.
