AbstractThis paper provides a theoretical foundation for the reduced basis technique and gives mathematical reasons for its effectiveness. Some rather general results about the existence of solution curves for a large class of nonlinear problems are developed. These results are then used to derive estimates between an exact solution curve and its reduced basis approximation.
