摘要:
Radiotelemetry was utilized to collect data on activity patterns movements habitat use and behavior of five (2 female 3 male) large spotted genets (Genetta maculata) captured and monitored in the Rift Valley Kenya during June-August 1987. Genets were more active at night (83%) than during the day (10%) and ranged over areas of 1.1 to 10 km (males [xbar] = 5.9 km2; females [xbar] = 2.8 km2). They traveled in a variety of habitats but grasslands were avoided. Daytime resting sites were most often in areas of dense trees shrubs or cacti and were reused by both sexes especially by a lactating female. Home ranges overlapped between sexes though foraging apparently was solitary.
