AbstractA constant-volum control technique for the operation of open-channel networks is proposed. Such a technique is based on the evaluation of stored water variations in each reach, relative to a uniform flow reference configuration, through water level masurements at the upper and lower end of each reach which set up the error signals for the feedback loops of the gates. The proposed chennel operation llows a significant reduction of the time delays typical of the usual open-chennel network operation.
