摘要:
Over recent years there has been a greater acknowledgement of the right of people with mental handicaps to express their sexuality. Considerable effort has been made to help others, mainly professionals working with them, to come to terms with this. It is argued that, because of different cares and concerns, their parents need a different type of help from that generally offered.A workshop is described which enabled parents to examine some of the issues that face their children as they reach adolescence and adulthood, so that they could take a positive attitude towards the development of the sexuality of their sons and daughters. Evaluation of the sessions demonstrated that attendance had been found useful by the parents. It seems likely that similar workshops would be well received.
