Research published over the last 12 months investigating the practical application of techniques of total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) is reviewed. Specific topics addressed are dose requirements for propofol infusion in adults and children, computerized delivery systems, pharmaco-kinetics, cardiovascular and intracranial effects, and obstetric and paediatric application of TIVA.
