SUMMARYAn account is given of the influence of enibomalum anaesthesia on the condition of infants delivered by Caesarean section. Study groups of 217 acute and 44 non‐acute cases are compared with a similar number of controls. The condition of the infants was assessed by estimating the Apgar score 1 minute after birth and by measuring the time taken before normal respiration became established.It is concluded that a dose of 250 mg or less of enibomalum lowers the infant's Apgar score and delays the onset of normal respiration. It does not influence the mortality during the first week of life. The Apgar score would appear to be a less useful prognostic indicator when enibomalum had been administered to the mother than when it had not been given.ZUSAMMENFASSUNGEs wird ein Bericht über den Einfluss der Enibomalanaesthesie auf den Zustand von Säuglingen gegeben, die mittels Kaiserschnitt entbunden wurden. Untersuchungsgruppen von 217 akuten und 44 nicht‐akuten Fällen werden mit einer ähnlichen Zahl von Kontrollen verglichen. Die Bewertung des Zustandes der Neugeborenen erfolgte mit Hilfe des Apgar‐Schemas eine Minute nach der Geburt und mittels Messung der Zeit bis zum Einsetzen normaler Atmung.Die Autoren kommen zu dem Schluss, dass eine Dosis von 250 mg oder weniger von Enibomal sowohl die Apgar‐Bewertungszahl des Säuglings herabsetzt, als auch das Einsetzen der normalen Atmung verzögert. Die Mortalität während der ersten Lebenswoche bleibt unbeeinflusst. Es scheint, dass das Bewertungsschema nach Apgar bei der Anwendung von Enibomal als prognosticher Hinweis weniger nützlich ist, als wenn die Mutter dieses Anaesthetikum ni
