AbstractNine patients with bulimia participated in a year‐long therapy group that combined behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. Eight of the patients also participated in individual psychotherapy and three had medication trials. By the end of the year, six had complete cessation or considerable improvement of their bulimic symptoms. This paper provides a detailed case report of the procedures and processes of the group and, based on our experience, offers suggestions for selection and preparation of members, group rules and composition, how to minimize dropouts and toxic effects, and what we believe to be therapeutic about the grou
