Abdominal pain is a common complaint of patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). With worldwide dissemination of the disease into the community, physicians involved in imaging should be familiar with the spectrum of imaging manifestations that may be seen in AIDS patients. In this article, the author discusses sonographic findings associated with the major painful abdominal pathologies affecting the AIDS population.
