摘要:
AbstractThe trends of school social work practice in the past—family-school liaison, caseworker, and agent of social change intervening at larger system levels—have reflected trends and important events in society. The passage of P.L. 94–142 and other recent events have modified school social work practice and have spurred development of new trends, such as working with handicapped children and serving as members of interdisciplinary teams. In the future, school social work is likely to respond to the passage of P.L. 99–457 by expanding its preventive intervention and work with high-risk young children. The implications of these developments for school educators, administrators, and practitioners are discussed.

摘要:
AbstractA home-school collaborative approach is presented that is based on a new role for parents of preschoolers in special education—formal participation in their child's assessment. The rationale that stimulated the development of this approach, the instrument called The Five Ps (Parent/Professional Preschool Performance Profile) that involves parents in the assessment process, and the way the role of the social worker has changed are discussed.

AbstractThree leading school social work journals that publish book reviews were studied to determine profiles of book review authors. Authors' characteristics were relatively homogeneous within each journal, but varied among journals. Opportunities exist for book review authors. The role and function of book and other media reviews are questioned.
