AbstractThe effectiveness of structured as opposed to nonstructured groups in the teaching of problem-solving skills to acting-out adolescent girls was tested with junior high school students. Following ten weekly treatment sessions, the structured group was found to have fewer disciplinary referrals and a reduction in tardiness.

As a model for such programs, the authors describe how a voluntary community agency used drop-in centers and individual and group counseling for both boys and girls in New York City junior and senior high schools.
